Steering wheel compatability
I know steering wheels have been mentioned on many occasions, but as I was thinking about upgrading to a VXR flat bottom wheel a thread elsewhere made me cautious.
My preface SRI (CD70 NAV if that makes any difference) has the same scrollers, which I had previously thought meant it was a full can system and I would be able to fit any other wheel with scrollers, but I have seen it mentioned that facelift wheels will still not fit preface.
Can anyone confirm which is right?
TIA
Shaun

I think you'll find if it's not got scrollers it's not full can. Some pre face are full can, I think that is the only criteria.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I guess the way to confirm it will be the airbag wiring.

There were limited numbers of full canbus cars from late 2004 to early 2005 before they got facelifted.
Early 2004 cars are pretty much all halfcan unless the car has been modified to full can as some have been including mine.
You shouldn't have any issues if your wheel with scroller buttons actually work the display and headunit, the biggest issue is the kind of airbag plug, however, as the airbags are usually swapped from the old to the new wheel, I can't see why you would have a problem.
I would wait for some other members to confirm my comments for you before proceeding however, to be on the "safe side"

Thanks Woody, that does sound perfectly feasible, mine was registered in April 2005 so would be a pretty late pre faceluft although I don't know just when it was built. My mate has a 2005 Signum, also with scrollers but his is a 2.0DTI not a cdti.
I know some people on here know these things inside out, but so far you have confirmed what I thought and the post I saw that sowed the seed of doubt if fading away. Thanks again.

Just in case anyone is interested, I bit the bullet and got a complete facelift SRI steering wheel and airbag from fleabay.
It fits and works perfectly, although the wiring plugs for the scrollers are different it is a flour pin fitting and interchanges, but to use your original scrollers you wold have to change all the wiring inside the steering wheel.
You also have to use the facelift airbag as the wheel is a slightly different shape and although the airbag wiring is the opposite was around it works perfectly.
The wheel is slightly smaller with thumb grips and a more sporty feel, very happy!
