What makes you say that?I have checked and looks fine....quite alot of black sooty deposit though....can it get much more?Actuator arm won't budget at the moment and really hard to get access...hopefugly with 20 min soaknow it should start to free up...
Because you have access to it all now, try popping the pipe off then moving it

Acess it really hard to budget the bar...however with engine on it does move.
Just not at the moment with engine off. Nice and sooty though eh?!And thats just the bits you can see....hopefully the foam will seep behind and get everything. .
OK Team....so got the foamy oven cleaner in......easy.......tried to work actuator after 20 mins and it was stiff to start then got a bit better. Did this every 20 mins for 2 hrs....last 40 mins was much better. Then took out for spin, 3rd gear at 4400rpm for at least 25 mins. Then drove normally for a bit and all seemed good.
So, upshot:
The oven cleaner seemed to have worked...coupled with driving it hard, it can definately pull through the rev range and is quite the rapid lump now....not that I can use her speeds round these parts...which is probably were the problems lies, in that it does not get an Italian tune every now and then. I am not 100% sure is it was the thrashing to clean out soot or the oven cleaner...either way the combo has worked.
The only problem I had in doing it in situ was to put the V clamp back on.......what tool do I need to stretch it out and release to catch both parts please? It was a real pain! Did mange with a wide chisel but it wasn't ideal.
I shall still be going to Tech2 man in May as it would be good to get the once over. In the meantime, I shall keep an eye on things and try and give it some beans every week.
Thanks for all you help.

it was the oven cleaner removing the soot fom the VNT... the trashing is the process that burns the chemical off... just make sure the turbo gets red/white hot... so it is a combo off both like i told you before... if it's not 100% keep doing it... tip with the V-clamp I use a pair of long nose pliers and open them as wide as possible than place some in between the handles so it stays open... than place it in the right position and remove the pliers, the v-clamp will jump into place... job sorted.. just need to tighten it up
Thanks for all tips............have put all tools away now, removed ramps and tidied up.
That's it until late May.....as I am sure Tech2 will throw something up!
