    Default Rear windshield Wiper

    Hello fellow car-enthousiasts....

(I'm Dutch so sorry in advance for my not 100% correct english...)
I have a question regarding the rear windshield wiper....

I have a Vectra-C 2.0 DTI from 2002, but it doesn't have a rear windshield wiper. I saw those Wipers on the GTS versions. Is it also possible to fit one on my veccie?? (Including a fluid sprayer....??)

Thanx for the answers in advance...

Rear wash/wipe not fitted on saloon models in this country. Read somewhere (Auto Express, if I remember correctly) that past experiments fitting rear wash/wipe on saloon cars did not show there was any advantage in having one.... something to do with the angle of the rear screen and/or the longer bootlid when compared with the hatchback, and that the rear screen was quicker to clear or drain or got less dirty than that on a hatchback. Added to which there was precious little demand from saloon car owners.

Sounds logical.... But it's not the rain that gives the problem. It's after a night being parked under atree that causes problem. My rear screen is all covered with somekind of sticky combined with fluffy stuff that fell down from the tree.... So now every day I pay the gas station a visit just to clean my back window..... And I bought a diesel to avoid most of the stops at gas stations...

Anyway I guess I just have to learn to live with this small issue.... Or cover up my car after parking.

    Thanx anyway

I sometimes miss the rear wiper / washer, but I prefer the saloons

HTH. I used to have a 2003 Vectra saloon, presumably like yours, and I kept an old washingup-liquid bottle filled up with screenwash so that I could get rid of the same rubbish as you describe off the rear windscreen (and the front one). In fact, I still carry it with me now, and I've got a hatchback. You're not alone in parking under trees, better than on the road, but subject to continuous assault from tree sap (the 'sticky' stuff you describe), bird feathers, tree blossom, twigs, leaves, tree debris and dust. Not to mention having to make damn sure that the drain tray under the windscreen is clear of such $hit, so that it does not block and cause water to find its way back into the driver and passenger footwells. Believe me Jallooije, you are not alone.

    Oh, bird $hit too!!

I know I'm not alone John... I guess it's time to invent somekind of product that I can spray on my windscreen that really absolutely repels anything that tries to land on my windscreen.... I guess inventing that would make some extra pocket money...
Untill then an old washingup-liquid bottle filled up with screenwash is probably added to my standard Vectra-Equipment....

    Thanx for that tip!!
