    Default Cheesed off with dealers

I always take my company Vectra 1.8LS (03) to the same dealer, Bristol Street in Sunderland. For the past year it has been back to them 3 times for a pronounced clanking noise from the front end, specifically when going over bumps. The handling has also been terrible. Every time it comes back I have had a different part changed, and it has never been cured.

2 days ago I booked it into the garage for an MOT (the same dealer) and took the dog for a walk while I waited. I returned an hour later (bearing in mind was promised 45 mins tops) to find the car still sitting in the bay, door open, no one near it...........so I went for another wander. Half nad hour later I returned (now sick of walking the dog, lol) to find the car still sitting in the sam ebay, door still open, no one near it still.
I went in, asked how it was going, and was told, "oh, I think its still being done". 5 mins later I overheard one of the mechanics asking when the parts for the car in the MOT bay would be there, my ears pricked slightly and I went over and asked if it was my car he was referring to. It was...
The parts needed are as I suspected 12 months ago, it has 4, yes 4, snapped springs.....!!!!!! Now I know why it was handling so bad and clanking about.

I had to ask why this hadn't been picked up after so many visits, all I got was a dumbfounded look. In short, what a pile of poo!

I spoke to the leasing company, who are now hoping mad as the car had the fault reported when it was IN warranty, and now a year later it isn't.

Oh well, got a 1.8 '07 life model hire car and its still sitting in the dealers forecourt, eventhough they suggested just driving it as it was ok to drive in!!!

When the new car comes it will never, ever go there again.

Surely if the fault was reported whilst the car was under warranty, then they should still fix it under warranty?? It's not your fault they weren't competant enough to find the fault, i'd be on to Vx customer support if they refuse to fix it under warranty.

e-mail Vauxhall, tell them your problems, the dealers need their a**** kicked,
broken springs could have caused an accident that could have killed someone!

This is the main reason my 3 month old has NEVER been in this car, I knew there was something wrong and refused to accept it had been fixed. I'm letting the leasing company do the complaining, unless they let it lie, then I'll take over. 2 days now and no telephone call from either garage or leasing company, wonder if they are still arguing who is to pay.

TBH I hope the car stays there for a month or so, then I'll never have to drive it again, as the new one is due soon.

Wow how can they miss bad springs several times.......I mean bad handling and clanking noises over bumps....the first thing they should have checked was the suspension of the car....right?

right, sorry took a while to post the outcome, been off work and way away from pc's for a few days....

Collected the car the other day, 4 springs fitted, and the car is TOTALLY different. Not slightly but massively. It now actually handles.
So, I put it to the dealer, who had to admit for 13 months I have been complaining about the same thing, why they had never noticed this before (including an MOT when I first got it).......all I got was, "sorry Mr blah blah blah", so I rang the leasing company and advised them not to pay, as it would have been within warranty if it were fixed the 1st time the issue was raised. The leasing firm were very helpful (tbh the guy on the end of the phone was ****ing amazed I didn't kick the **** outta them, I have dealt with him for years so he knows me) and they are taking it up with Vauxhall, also, to make sure they do I lodged an official complaint with the leasing firm with regards to the dealer (figuring them complaining to the dealer has more effect than me as they send 100s of cars there)...

Lets see what, if anything happens.

Oh, and btw, it doesn't clank over bumps anymore!
