The SRi got it's new belt and tensioner, posting it here for reference if someone needs the info.
New belt: Continental 5PK 1030
Old belt: 55351458 / 5PK 1028
Tensioners: 24430296

The SRi also got some polish and wax. Of course it started to rain a few hours after.

Now I need to polish the estate and service both cars.

Not much of interest to report here, both cars still work. Rear brakes were overhauled a week ago and the hatchback got its winter wheels, boring to look at and drive now. If I find the time it'll get polished soon.
Think the estate will receive new spark plugs within a few months due to milage, nothing is apparently wrong with the old ones.

A small update... The estate passed another MOT this week so my planned service and polish is well deserved. I've told my wife many times to get bird poop off the car asap and doing that she managed to scratch a rear fender badly, almost looks like sandpaper was involved. The joy of having black cars... or a wife who's not into cars I guess.
The estate got rear parking sensors too, cheap ones but they seem to work good enough.
Since I got a cheap exhaust system for the hatchback a joint is still ******ing me with small leaks, I put some high temp silicon on it yesterday and hope the car will pass MOT on Monday. Will take the system apart and try to get it sorted this summer. Due to Corona the car has only done about 2500km since last years MOT so I haven't bothered.
Think I'll try to get some rust protection done on both cars rear subframes too, won't remove them but hope to delay the process a bit since I don't want to get rid of these cars anytime soon.

I've finally managed to get some work done.
Estate: Oil and filter change, more to come.
SRi / GTS:
- Oil and filter change (the oil was still light brown but it's been a year so replaced it anyway).
- Replaced the brake fluid including the clutch.
- Trying to stop the rust, the rear subframe is the worst part and hopefully it'll live a bit longer now. I'm using Dinitrol ML and Metallic.
- Cleaned out a lot of crap from the rear wheel wells, will spray some Dinitrol there too.
Sprayed some rust protection in the doors too, through the drain holes.
The car hasn't left the garage for a week now due to the Dinitrol treatment.

I was a bit afraid of breaking the fuel filter connectors / hoses but used a plier from Amazon and it was easy enough so filter done on the GTS.
I tried to release the fuel pressure but there was none.

The Mann filter didn't sit as tight as the GM one but it works.
I also spotted a bad looking rear brake line, the one routed over the tank. Have never changed brake lines before and don't have the tools but maybe I'll give it a shot.
Next up is fuel filter for the estate I think. Will give it a Dinitrol treatment too but that'll have to wait a month or so.

Since my vacation is about over I had to get some stuff done to the estate. (Oil and filter already done.)
- Spark plugs
- Fuel filter (on this car the Mann filter fit perfectly)
- Brake fluid incl clutch
- Rear subframe treated with Dinitrol ML and Metallic
- Throttle body cleaned
- Grille painted with Plastidip glossy black
- Polished and waxed
Now I've got two shiny cars, wish they could always look like this.
Before winter I'll do a brake overhaul but other than that no real plans.

Almost a year later...
Both cars passed MOT and are still running fine, the estate did get new rear brake rotors, a hose and a caliper due to sticking brakes. Will probably need a new water pump soon too.
Both cars were polished recently, this time I tried Scholl S30+, Turtle wax graphene flex and Concept vista for the plastic parts.
Turned out fine, really liked the Scholl and Concept vista stuff.
Of course both cars received their yearly service too. Maybe not much needed for the SRi / GTS that was driven <4000km since the last one but I try to keep my engines healthy...

Ok, so both cars are still running but some issues with the estate.
The water pump was replaced due to leakage, I'm afraid that a cheap part was used since the new one sounds different and not in a good way.
Last year I replaced a brake caliper and the seal now looked like this:
PXL_20230408_175610775.jpg
Apparently that's A.B.S quality for you. Put the original seal on and will replace it with a new one, didn't see that coming.
Lastly the rear o/s floor mat is soaked and I've yet to find the cause. Have removed some trim and the pillars seem dry, the aerial too.
All other mats and the boot are dry. Door drains checked, of course the rubber bungs, also the AC drain. Thought it should be an easy fix but no issues found so that's a bit frustrating.
But... still like my cars and not planning to replace them. Wouldn't know what to choose TBH.

So glad i never bought ABS parts. Saw them very cheaply tho but the rubber seal looking like that after a year? That's insane.
For the leak maybe look at the speaker gasket or even the inner door foil.
