Makes me worry mine won't pass now, as even though the dpf isn't removed, it is hollowed. Doesn't smoke at all though, so who knows

From what I gather, if there is any evidence the DPF has been opened, you need proof that it had been to clean it. i.e. an appropriate garage receipt.

    http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-new...or-diesel-cars

Testers are also being instructed to check to see if DPFs have been removed or tampered with, and must refuse to test any car where the “DPF canister has clearly been cut open and re-welded” unless the owner can prove this was done “for legitimate reasons such as filter cleaning.”

Well it hasn't been opened in any way shape or form, so you wouldn't know it had been tampered with at all

Would a tap test reveal it's been hollowed out though?

Who knows, I certainly hope not, as a lot of us guys with the Y30/Z30 have hollowed the DPF to make the car more reliable

One of my signums still has a DPF. The other one has been core-drilled from one end with a 44mm core drill, so it doesn't sound hollow or have any external marks to indicate tampering.

It smokes a little at full throttle, but not when stationary because I applied a VAG-style remedy for the known test conditions.
