Default Help with HOUSEHOLD LED Bulbs & Dimmers please

    Hey guys,

Im after some advice, in lehmans terms, on household bulbs.

I bought a couple of LED BC bulbs, which say on the box they are dimmable, but when screwed in they dont dim.

Have tried two different types, both say dimmable and neither dim.

What do I need to make these work? I have only recently replaced my dimmers, so really dont want to replace them again.

Or can you point me in the right direction for the correct type of bulb.

I need BC Bayonet Cap LED, 15W (equivalent to 100W Halogen), or 1521 lumens.

Many thanks, I know a lot of you have a lot of knowledge about other things too, hence cap in hand again for information.

    Regards,
    G.

Hate to say it, but it's more than likely your dimmer. Not all work with LEDs - you need an LED compatible dimmer.

There's a symbol on all led bulbs stating if it's dimmable or non dimmable

It'll be one or the other on the package

But if your buying the correct ones, then as Craig says.....it'll be your switch.

Here's a technical explanation from a bloke called bigclive.com (I just love his vids) as to why traditional dimmer switches don't work with LEDs

This is now really starting to get on my private bits!
I have bought and installed a new LED specific dimmer switch.
I have bought another new LED dimming bulb, in fact two, one 12w and one 15w.
Whilst both of these dim, they dont dim anywhere near enough the darkness we want them to. They are OK brightness, but their dim level is hardly anything below full light.
I have tried re-programming the dimmer.

Its doing my nut in to be fair!

Any help please, before I ditch both and got back to energy draining halogens.

Might be worth dropping the manufacturer a line to ask what the crack is - although mine don't dim anything like a filament bulb they still noticeably dim around 50% from full.

Another thought - what's the specs of the dimmer? You could be under or over loading it which will not play nicely. Male sure it's set to trailing edge if it's switchable.
