Default how long can you heat a tie rod end

Just a quick question here I was helping a mate with a ford fiesta outer tie rod change. The nut was stubborn. I had to heat the outer tie rod nut for two minutes (butane gas). Everything was fine accept when I went to loosen the nut there was a hissing sound I don't know if it came from the nut or power steering rack. The car seems to be driving fine and no leaks that I can see just making sure heating this nut for that time wont damage any seals.

So you heated the nut on the tack rod end? The bit that drops into the hub Or do you mean the bar that comes out of the rack ?i
If it was the nut on the trackrod end. The worst you could do would heat the grease on the balljoint and melt the dust seal.
to heat the rack up from this end and do damage the bar would need to be glowing.

Realise that wasn't very clear either. It wasn't the ball joint in the hub I got that off no problem . It was the nut keeping the outer tie rod end from comming off to be changed.
