    the low profiles were great when it blew out on the motorway, didn't notice a thing until the van driver overtaking me sounded his horn and pointed.
    BUT, damage could have been done on the rough so looking for the higher 55 profile.
    also , need to be winter approved for France use so possibly ruling out summer tyres like the Asymmetric' s

    Actually there isn't a great deal of difference in the profile between 55 and 45.

    Only if you also change the width, but for a fixed width there is a big difference between 55s and 45s.

    Goodyear NCT's up there with the best tyres ive ever had on my car, but expensive. I always had great mileage, low noise, great all around grip. I put Uniroyal Rainsport 3's on 10k ago and definitely good in the wet, but they are around 50% of the original tread depth on the front already, which is a disappointment as I am not hard on tyres. So i guess they have around 6k to go before they reach 2mm. I also noticed they are around £15 a corner more expensive now too.
