OMBUDSMAN, here I come...
So today I asked my local vaux deal to change my water thermostat & housing, (2003, Vectra c, 3.2. Yes sir we can do that, but there is an mandatory note to change metal pipe part number (24447768)as well that connects the thermo housing to the front of the block which in turn connects to top hose on radiator. So anyway this part is now not made or stocked anymore is the reply, They can't find one any where and I can't find one either from the www net etc.....
So I say my car is running cold, not running efficient, winter is coming and I have a young child.
My local vaux dealer will not carry out the work unless they have all the parts required to successfully do the job, this includes this pipe!!!!
I was then told to phone main complaints in Luton, where they told me to take it to motor ombudsman.
Ombudsman people said if vaux can still supply a thermostat and housing as a spare then there is no reason to stop supplying this pipe as they go hand in hand.... and it only cost £15 when it was made.......
Thought some of you might find this interesting...

Manufacturers are supposed to offer new parts for 10 years after a car goes out of production. I guess they could argue the last 3.2 was built in MY2005 so are past that, even though the last Vec C was sold in MY2008. Did you get the part number by any chance?

hi, yes part number, 24447768.
Yes 10 years is quite correct on the more expensive items, but what is considered a Not very long life item like a stat, housing and pipe £15, that really should be done all in the same job, Thats vaux's statment, These items as they normally should be replaced as one unit because as some of you know over the years they sort of weld them selves together and don't generally don't come apart at all, normally get damaged so thats why the pipe 24447768, should also be still readily available .......

Give auto Vaux / genuine part search (same people) a ring. For Yorkshiremen they’re actually quite helpful
