Default Retaining Trip Computer after replacing CD30

So after 3 years, I've now had to hang up my 350z keys and have purchased an 06 plate vectra 1.9cdti (150) as I've now had a little girl

This is a question that has probably been asked a few times but I'm still trying to get my head round it. I'm quite competent in fitting car audio gear (completely kitted out my 350 with new speakers, sub HU etc) myself so i've got some knowledge.

I'm trying to understand what I actually need to buy to still use my trip computer with an aftermarket HU. The vectra is currently fitted with a CD30 and has controls on both sides of the steering wheel (Double canbus I think that's what its called?) and I want to fit an old sony HU I have laying around, one of these. Now, what connection leads do I need to buy to be able to use both the steering controls for the new HU and also the trip computer?

Wonder if anyone can help. Cheers

I originally had a CD30 and it is a rubbish head unit. I upgraded to a CDC40 opera and with the addition of the centre dash speaker the sound is very very good. Also you have the option to fit the DAB antenna and module if you wanted DAB.

This was its just plug a play with the bonus of built in 6 CD changer and obviously DAB

If you're upgrading i.e. to CDC40 / CD70 etc then yes you will need to change the screen at the same time. As long as you buy a HU (if you change to another VX one) and screen that are from the same car, they will be plug and play with nothing else needed (apart from RGB / Navi cable if you use CD70).

I'd prefer to use my old Sony HU if possible, as I'm able to bluetooth all my music across etc. But if it's a real ball ache to put and aftermarket in, then I'll go for another vauxhall one
