    take it back.

seems obvious, I know, but probably the best course of action.

why was the master cylinder changed?

    because........SIGNUM!

Sounds like they haven't set up the vacuum unit correctly.

Thanks for the input guys..took it back to the garage. .he stripped it down again and a washer had moved between the cylinder and the servo. .so all good now..the service soon message is still coming up when I start it..can I erase ir or does it need to be done in a garage.

i would have that turned off after you've done the service or it should be done at the garage that does the service for you. The reminder is there to let you know it is time for a service not just to annoy you.

If it's the same as my Astra-J, then the SVS message (Service Vehicle Soon) doesn't mean that at all. It means there is a fault and needs putting on a diagnostic reader.

SVS represents what the car/spanner symbol used to mean on the Vectra. Daft I know, but that's Vauxhall for you.

Chances are, as it's a diesel, it's probably a glowplug failure. It was in the case of mine. Op-Com managed to identify it, although Op-Com thought my Astra was a Vx220 speedster. It correctly identified the engine though.

i didn't know they changed it... just diagnose it first than it might not be a service after all (very confusing though)

a wee update,,when the master cylinder wasn't fitted properly that's when the service message first came up and the car went into limp mode,,im led to believe its got something to do with the vacuum that's created for the brakes being connected to the engine in some way .so when the vacuum wasn't created it produced the engine fault.anyway,it came on this morning, but the dozen or so times ive started it since then it hasn't,so id say that its fixed, and cars driving and braking great,,fingers crossed it continues, lol, thanks for all your replys

Which suggests there is a still a fault somewhere. It wouldn't have come on otherwise. Put a shout out in your local area to see if anyone local to you can put it on a diagnostic scanner for some beer money.
