    Default Soundproofing ..

I would like to soundproof the boot floor of the vec, the V6 is an amazing noise, but is wearing a bit thin now *lol* , what is the best plan of action, i think because the spare wheel lifts the rear mat just above the floor of the car it has lost its soundproofing properties a bit, would accoustic matting help, halfrauds sell rolls for £25.00 . I have seen accoustic tiles on ebay but they are fairly thick, made of foam but could be trimmed a bit thinner ? Just looking for some ideas really, cheaper the better !! maybe even a bootliner would sort it out ??

What about .. another oe carpet panel on top of the old one, it'll smarten the boot up, and double the sound deadening on the floor of the boot .

Wont take much time to fit either

Tommy, i used felt sound deadening matting, cut to shape and glued onto the metalwork..it made quite a difference..or you could try the acoustic mat you can buy from 'noisekillers'..you could try googling for their website..

Is that the same as accoustic felt used for building subs etc ?? halfords have that, or i thought maybe carpet underlay as it is supposed to help soundproofing. did you just use spray on glue ?

yep, i used spray glue from an car trimmer's.. so not the 'spray mount' type, but more like 'evostick'..the felt i used was from them as well, it's about 1/2 inch thick..

i've never seen the halfords stuff....so i don't know how thick it is..

carpet underlay should do the job just as well.. but i warn you the glue stinks as the solvent evaporates...
