Question Vectra, replacing IDC shocks with normal ?

    Hi All,

I have a 56 plate Vectra 2.2 with sport button in the dash, IDC shock absorbers. O/S/F shock is leaking, car has done 110K, it'll need both front shocks replacing.

Much as I'd like to keep the car as Vauxhall intended, the cost for 2 IDC shocks is too much, this car is in the twilight years of its life! I'm happy to put two 'normal' shocks on the front and lose the functionality of the sport button which I never pressed anyway. Not in that much of a rush to get to Sainsburys.

I've seen other posts here where this 'downgrade' has been done but I'm unclear how the resulting warning light is disabled on the dash.

Is tech2 used to deactivate the CDC module, or turn off fault checking, or just disable the dash light? This car had a new CIM module a couple of years ago which when faulty was causing strange issues with other modules on the bus, so I'm concerned about causing other problems down the line...

Maybe with 2 normal shocks in I can send the duffers off to Poland for refurb, Disappointed I can't find anyone in the UK offering the same service.

    Thanks!

Yes, saw these last night http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vectra-VXR...item33d3e8c817

Not sure if I'm IDS+. But they are three times the price of Sachs and I may still have a problem with them.

If getting rid of IDS is drama free.... may be less hassle.

I did just replace with refurbished from poland, nagengast.pl
Very very nice, 2 yrs warranty without milage limitation. Price is 90 eur per unit and 40 for shipping. And 50 per unit they hold up until your units reach their workshop. Very very happy with their seriveces.
You do not need to remove yours first, they offer swap(they send you, then pick up your old from you via courier)

That sounds OK to me, thanks for the info. I didn't realise they offered exchange parts. Couldn't do it if the car would be off the road for a week.

What part numbers did you use to make sure you got the right bits?

I looked on ecat with my VIN -> http://ecat24.com/opel/catalog/part/...0/41545,41544/

I suppose I want two from the bottom four

    1 93187084 5344010 SHOCK ABSORBER,ASSY.,FRONT,RH (IDENT DH) (FOR IDS+) 1
    1 93187083 5344009 SHOCK ABSORBER,ASSY.,FRONT,LH (IDENT CH) (FOR IDS+) 1
    1 93190515 344554 SHOCK ABSORBER,ASSY.,FRONT,RH (IDENT GH) (FOR IDS+) 1
    1 93190514 344553 SHOCK ABSORBER,ASSY.,FRONT,LH (IDENT FH) (FOR IDS+)

But I can't match up those part numbers with anything I see on the shock itself, which has a SACHS GM sticker on it, at the bottom right of the label it says "GJ" which I thought might be an ident number like above, but not of the idents are GJ. Minefield!

In that page it says "GJ" corresponds to 93190528. Anyway, in my Signum it seems the factory-fitted ones were discontinued and substituted by other codes: or so I was told by the guy at an Opel dealer with access to their "EPC" application. I went with the VIN code and my four shocks "CH", AJ"... codes, and they gave me the right list of "93xxxxxx" codes for my shocks. Then I searched online for prices and fainted.

Yes, think I was suffering temporary blindness.

I mailed Nagengast, they said "Yes, we have these type of shocks which are available for sale in exchange service. The price is 99 GBP per unit. The shipping costs 34 GBP. You also require payment of deposit ( 50 GBP per unit) which will be returned to you once we receive your old shocks. If you are interested please kindly advise your PayPal address and we will send you an invoice."

So, I'd prefer 90EUR than £99, but, better than new Vx parts so I'm going to go with that I think. Just waiting to hear that they do definitely have the correct ones, they sent that mail before I sent them the part numbers...

    Hi @SandyGBR

any news about shock replacement? Did you get those refurbished ones from Poland? How was the process working, product quality and car running?
I'm in the same position now. One front shock must be replaced and new ones costs a lot. ATM polish guys have 125 GBP price per each in ebay.
Although I don't need IDS+ system, have tested sports button for only few times so I'm also thinking replacing all shocks with normal ones. Any suggestions how should I do?
