    Default Hello from The Netherlands!

Hello all! My name's Thomas, and I've bought a '07 ('08 MY) Opel Vectra C GTS 1.8 a few months ago.

Since then I've played around with a few things.
First were the rear tires. They were horrible Chinese cheapies. they were soon gone, and replaced with a set of new Pirellis to match the fronts, along with a four-wheel alignment. This made all the difference to handling and road-holding. The alignment was off in the rear, causing all sorts of weirdness.
Secondly, the oil cooler was leaking, making a mess of the engine, engine bay and front subframe. Thankfully this turned out to be a set of seals that went bad. A cheap fix, but not easy. Due to the cramped east-west orientation of the engine (yay FWD cars) this meant half the exhaust had to come off, along with the AC pump and assorted crap. Many four-letter words later and it has been fixed.

It's...not fast. 140HP is decent enough, but all the power is (due to the variable valve timing) up there in the rev-range, and it's coupled to a fairly high-geared 5-speed. Once it's up to steam it's all good though. We've had it on the Autobahn, and found that the 80kph to 120kph (50MPH to 75MPH) sprint is actually slower than the 150KPH to 175KPH (93 MPH to 110 MPH)
    sprint.

Future plans? I'd like to install the factory Bluetooth module, just to complete the specs on the car (the CD70 already has an aux-in), and I'd like to get a bit more power out of it. Mostly low-down torque, but I realize that it's difficult to do that with such a high-geared car. EDS in Germany does good chiptuning for the Z18XER, and they have an on-site dynometer to back up their performance gains.

And because half my post got lost in translation somewhere, here's the rest of it.

    The specs of my car
    - 2007 (but 2008 MY) Opel Vectra C GTS
    - Z18XER
    - Half-leather sports seats with active headrests
    - Power windows all-around
    - Power and folding mirrors
    - CD70 with aux-in (UHP4 would be cool somewhere down the road)
    - Factory alarm
    - Park Pilot
    - Auto-dimming left- and rear-view mirror
    - AFL with Xenon

Indeed it does! I didn't think it was worth mentioning that it had ECC, as all GTSses came with that here. I've never seen a 5-door Vec C without it. And the steering wheel's very nice indeed. Didn't know it was part of an OPC package.
