    Default Tech2 Diagnostics

Spanner light + Engine management light = £85+ VAT at the dealer stealers just to take an ashtray out plug in a magic box and vaugley tell me what it might be causing my spanner light to appear (usually at a junction as I pull out necessitating the carrying a boot full of clean underpants for such occasions )

I'm not sure if posting links is allowed so I wont LOL.
I've found a specialist in Widnes that only charges £30 for a tech 2 test.
feel free to pm me for the addy or google tech 2 widnes or something. If I can post a link someone let me know .

P.S. I'm not connected to the specialist in any way whatsoever just relieved to find someone who can do the same job as the highwayman sorry dealer for less than a third of the cost.

To give you an idea how much they are ripping you off, it takes less than five minutes to read all the diagnostic trouble codes on a Vectra. And that includes the time taken to get to the connector and plug the Tech 2 in...

Good news and bad news. The good news is he did the tech 2 thingy, and my engine is fine -48000 miles full dealer stealer history, well looked after and should go on forever !

Bad news is my auto box is on the way out. £1000s to replace but the mech told me his Dad had had same prob on same model, and new box lasted only 8000 miles. third box (under warrenty ) lasted 12000. He then gave up and put it to auction.

so I find a very reasonable factory trained mech at last, only to be told my gearbox may be visable in my rear view mirror very soon.

The mech updated the software and cleared the faults but didnt hold out much hope. He told me this is what the dealer stealers do when they find the same fault, then put it up for sale and hope for the best. all for £30 so really I feel like I got one and then two over the dealers *spits* when I part ex it and let them take the cost on warrenty when they sell it on.

Now wheres the nearest 1.9 cdi.....................

This is the only real thing I miss since getting rid of my Ibiza. I could for about £30, get a cable, download free software and check all of the fault codes myself.

    Never mind.
