If I fit one of these here tuning boxes and then remove it before I go to VX for service, can they tell you have had a 'box' on your car (with Tech 2 or similar)??
Please advise....

Should be ok I had A leon cupra r which was remaped to 265bhp went for a serive and they could not tell so like I say should be ok
Steve
A service just consists of changing the oil and a few filters. They are not going to search around looking for evidence of a box. I'm sure they have better things to do! Like getting your car finished so they can move onto the next one...
^^^ What he said - but in answer to your original question, no, there should be no trace of having the box fitted once you remove it.
Cheers all.
Now then, whats the best box for a 1.9 150???
I dont want to lose all my economy BTW.
Thanks,
David.
Well the cheapest is the "Caterman Special" for around £65 but the other end of the scale is a Spider box from diesel tuner for aorund £330 (with discount). I dont know about the Caterman Special, many people have bought one and it works fine. I have the Spider and that is very good - more sophisticated in how it works, but more money.
Also your fuel economy will be hardly effected. In fact if you drive steady with a box it will most likely improve (if you can keep your right foot off the pedal!)
