Default

10k - £135
20k - £178

Or thereabouts.

Bad starting - Inj seals & spill pipes
Timing Chain - Blocked lube jets, chain rattles, not often though, just something to keep an ear on.
Mass Air meter - EML on and poor performance
Rear link bars - all models

Other than that, the 2.0dti is a good old reliable unit.

Cheers for the info, i'll look out for those probs

Ive also recently heard that you should change the timing belt on vectras every 40K as they have a habit of breaking??? I take it this is not the same for a timing chain????

FAZ

got it for 6k(minus 1200 on old clio) with 27000 miles on the clock here at our local arnold clark dealership, would have gone elsewhere but this was the only car that had grabbed our attention, took it for a test drive, liked it, bought it!!!

Its in great condition, one blemish on paintwork that they are sorting and inside is like new, whoever owned it b4 took real good care of it.

Gonna stop reading about all the probs others have had with their vectras now and just look forward to picking it up on tues!!!

Have you got one as well or are you looking to buy one????? Doesn't seem to be too many owners of this model out there!!

No, chain drive is very reliable normally, they tell tales when they need changing, rattles etc, Vx iirc don't even specify an interval for changing them.

Thank for that, never had a chain drive before so wasn't too sure. Just had the belt go on my wee clio (luckily only £500 repair bill) and dont want to go through that again with my new wheels!!!!

My 2.0dti has just reached 100,000 mls, and has been a peach of an engine, hasn't even needed spill pipes and doesn't use a drop of oil. I keep thinking of upgrading but its such a reliable old bus i might as well keep it a bit longer.

Sounds great mate, hope you enjoy the motor!

I had exactly the same as you.. Vectra 2.0 DTi SXi '53 reg in black.

Loved it and sadly it was written off a few weeks ago. Gonna look out for a replacement very soon.

Never had a problem with it in 4 months of ownership and over 3500 miles I returned an average of 47MPG!

Here's mine:
