Default Vectra c condensation. How do i replace the rivet/clip holding roof gutter strip ?

I know there are many, many postings on Vectra CONDENSATION problems and my car too has also had these issues. I want to now replace the RIVET that secures the plastic clip that holds the rear part of the roof gutter strip in place. Can your buy the RIVET and CLIP from dealers or can someone tell me the size of the pop RIVET I need to replace existing one. Thank You.

Rivets come in standard sizes. You will need a pop riveter. You can re-use the roof trim clips. Remove the plastic and rubber washers from under the clips, which are the reason your car is leaking there in the first place. Use an adhesive as well as a rivet. That should stop the water getting in. Be careful not to get the adhesive on the top of the clip. Also take care to fit the clip the same way around as it was originally fitted. Top tip: take a picture of it before you begin so you can refer to it.

Removed roof trim strips today to reveal the rear securing clip held with a rivet. The n/s was a little loose, the o/s not to bad. On both sides I drilled out the rivet out and replaced it putting sealant around the rivet and also under the plastic clip bracket.
My question also is, do the metal solid blocks also in the roof gutter for roof rack attachment, although you wouldn't remove them do they also need sealing around as they also have a rubber washer under them so could they also let water into the car.

I don't know. My metal roof rail brackets were good and tight, so I left well alone. I'll keep an eye out for any more water ingress.

I hope your car is watertight now.

I have not heard of anyone sealing around the roof rack attachment metal blocks so I guess I will leave these for the moment.
