Rear light tint paint

Have been thinking about spraying my rear lights with a dark tint paint
As long as I do a thin coat will I get through an MOT?

Also, would I have to change the bulbs for brighter ones, is it a case of taking the old ones into Halfords and getting a higher wattage?

to get them through an MOT you will have no not get any paint on the reflector portion of the rear lamp assembly, so you'll be left with an un-tinted area..if it's just a light spraying then it shouldn't stand out that much and you shouldn't need brighter bulbs
