    Default Clio Bonnet Flip

As the title suggests I saw a Clio stuck in the outside lane of a four lane stretch on the M62 this morning with the bonnet flipped right up to the windscreen. The driver had done exceptionally well in keeping the car in lane and had even managed to get as far right as he/she could.

I remember watching a report about these bonnets flipping open on watchdog a while ago, and seem to remember that Renault aren't doing anything significant to recall these cars in.

If you have a Clio and the bonnet catch hasn't been checked recently, get it checked peeps.

yep, renault are refusing to issue a recall, saying that it's either poor maintainence by the owners ( not greasing the catches properly) or owners failing to latch the bonnet correctly..

I think the phrase ' head' and 'sand' come into it..had the same thing on brother-in-laws clio cup sport....another reason not to buy renault.

although renault are not admitting any liability for the problem i hear that they will issue you with the following free of charge if you go into your local dealership:

just grease up the bonnet catches for her, the main cable pull one, and the finger tab 2nd release...and it'll never happen G..

And you get hundreds of brownie points..
