Very true, it sucks only had the vehicle 4-5 weeks if that. Can't afford to get the gearbox reconditioned. My only option is to go through insurance. But until then I will have to still use the car for work. couldn't come at a worse time, just got my first mortgage and everything. Got a daughter to look after.. tough luck for me

It was from a trader, but seeing as the vehicle was basically brought as seen, kinda basis in that the vehicle had only really come in the day before. I only paid £900 for it so don't really know what to do. It didn't come with warrenty or anything like that

the law states that a vehicle trader MUST ensure the vehicle is fit for purpose.
it seems it isn't.
that's HIS problem for not checking it properly.
unless, of course, it was sold as spare or repair.
because........SIGNUM!
It wasn't told as spare or repair, was basically sold and buy as seen basis. He said there was some stuff that needed doing. Tyres brake hose but never said anything regarding the gearbox etc

So rang vauxhall today to see if the vehicle was recalled for the work, was told the vehicle wasn't recalled and it was only for vehicles between 2006-2008.. fantastic.

Gearbox cooler going porous is a well documented fault on the autos, there is no way the trader or anybody could of foreseen this issue ,
, it is unfortunate that this has happened to you but sadly is one of those things .
When the cooler fails it kills the gearbox very quickly and i doubt the problem was even there when the trader sold the car.
I gave teapot an external oil cooler a few weeks back as a preventative for this exact problem.
Custom griill, Vx-line bodykit ,gsi boot spoiler, Irmscher evo star 20" alloys , Stainless twin exit exhaust
The route i have taken is I have contacted the trader who I got the car from 33 days ago and said that unfortunately there is now a problem with the gearbox. Having done some research under The Consumer Rights Act replaces the Sale of Goods Act on October 1st 2015, it states If a defect is found after 30 days, but within six months, buyers are entitled to request a repair, replacement or refund. The law assumes that the fault was there at the time of delivery.
So fingers crossed.
