VBOA National Rally 2017 Update. new venue pictures

VBOA Update

Plasma and myself attended a meeting this morning at the new site of the National Rally , We had a progress update and walked the site. It is pretty much a flat field of 75 acres that is fully fenced and secure. The plans for where the clubs will be standing are still being worked on but the thought is to have the clubs set out in a time-line.

This is the main gate where campers and traders etc will enter.

I'm sure that it won't be quite the same as "Billing", but I'm confident that if the usual "forum supporters" attend, then it will be another SUPERB and FUN event as has always (almost due to flooding) been the case previously

I'm up for this anyway

It is a big change from what everybody is used to however essentially it will still be the same show ,
Is the site as pretty as billing no , does it have electric hook up no , however on the vectra-c.com stand we never had electric hook up anyway so no difference for us .
Shower blocks are being hired as are toilets etc , almost all of the traders that billing stopped from coming last year are all coming back .
We will have traders such as bilstein and pipercross etc attending as well , there is a fair booked and catering will be supplied by the same people that provided catering at billing .
At the end of the day i suspect we will have the same die hard members in attendance and it is the banter and friendship from these people that make the show what it is and always has been

As above, out of all the options which were available this one offered by LMF suits us quite well.

Sure, it doesnt have fixed toilets and shower blocks or the odd shop or two.... Its a blank canvas for us to use. And from the planned layout it seems pretty good...

Only concerns we have are the roads around the place getting choked up with the amount of vehicles... We deserve to get it a fair chance after the amount of effort that has gone into finding a replacement venue which was taken away from us after 35 years...

they actually put an 'effort' into finding a replacement?

of course, time will tell, but perhaps an already proven venue would have been a better interim option. Newark springs to mind.

as mentioned, the arterial routes are gonna be a nightmare for the amount of traffic, and the weather has the potential to ruin the weekend completely!
