Default Cancer research for free, use your pc power

hmm, title sounds like some dodgy advert lol, bear with me ..

I run a small program on my pc, some peeps here may have heard of it, and do the same..

    www.grid.org

small download, free, undetectable when running, the program utilises any spare cpu power your not using ( ie, pc is idle, or under little stress ), performs cancer research type stuff .. sends results back to grid when its done, then downloads a new 'work unit'.

thought Id mention it as Ed just revived his aerials for research 'charity' , and thought this would be the ideal 'donation' to run alongside

any Q, please ask.. Ive been running it for a few years

Not sure if it does, would seem strange if the owners didnt know it was doing so, and not using 100% cpu for gaming purposes

I cant believe only 2 people have looked at the thread .... surely its all in a good cause, and its all free ... :S

    some coincidence ...

    it finished lol ..

new ones listed on the same site..

"As of April 2007, Grid.org managed 3,732,696 global devices, with 1,340,913 registered members who contributed 210 years of CPU time daily"

hopefully it did some good ... now on to the next one

    Hi Fellie,

I think this maybe, given the title it looked like a spam thread by one of those who post once and then move onto the next forum to do the same.

Being very sensitive to this subject (my wife is terminal) and after reading it several more times, I realised it wasn't spam and took a look at the link.

Yes it is for a good cause but I prefer to keep my PC free from this type of programme because much of the stuff I run is 'volatile' at the best of times. One rogue driver and the whole lot falls over
