limp mode
Need advice
Bought my ex Ambulance 1.9 8v 120bhp the other month
I noticed the oil level was high so on Saturday I bit the bullet and drained it down to the correct level
Driving to London on Monday it dropped out of cruise control and when I got it to the hard shoulder it was revimg at 1250rpm
And no response from the accelerator pedal turned it off for about 5 min it seemed to reset and took off as normal
About 100 mile later it wouldn't rev over 3100 rpm. Got to work
And left the car a couple of hours later it started running like a Bag Of Shi...
Started missing and smoking (it's never smoked)
RAC out and took it to a garage in London.
Diagnostic says Boost Pressure Valve open Circuit. EGR valve fault
Any ideas as I've now had it lifted back to Manchester as the Garage after me telling them
Price the Valve and Fit it they called me back and said it had to be a main dealer as it needed Programming to the ECU.
Cheers
Andy

As its an estate it will have a dpf. Failed dpf regeneration tends to result in the oil becoming contaminated with fuel causing the oil level to rise. i recommend draining and refilling with fresh oil to prevent engine damage.
Then get the fault codes checked by someone with opcom or tech2. if there is nothing abnormal (other than the expected egr or dpf fault codes) then the most cost effective option is to gut the dpf and have a remap with egr and dpf disabled.

the garage are lying. the EGR is easily replaced, no programming needed.
I'm assuming, because it's an estate, it has a DPF, and a DPF regen failure can cause diesel to get into the sump, raising the level of the oil.
if all you did is drain the level back to normal, you could have drained just oil, and left diesel in the sump, which won't do it any good.
you need to get the fault codes read by someone with either opcom, vauxcom or tech2.
you also need to drain the sump and add the full quota of engine oil.
let us know how it gets on.

yes, you can gut the DPF before the remap, if you unplug the EGR valve it will come up with an error that will stop the DPF running a regen, but won't cause any other issues, until the map is done.

Quick update thanks to Teapot and Bonehead the DPF has been removed as your diagnosis was correct and it was blocked
3 hours after it arrived at Whitehall Garage Stockport
I Received a Call they had sorted the DPF Changed Oil and Filter and Rewired the Boost Pressure Valve as the wiring was damaged
Strange the Garage in London that was Recommended by The RAC as one of their Recognised
Garage's couldn't fix it
Thanks Lads and I'll be in touch as to the Reprogram

Excellent news, so it's running well again now?
Don't wait too long before getting the software changed, because it will still assume the DPF is there and may try to regenerate it, in which case vast amounts of blue/white smoke will be emitted from the exhaust.
