    • 2 used wiper arms sourced that were from my old VXR eating Sri, the drivers one was bought new about 6 years ago so at least i know its got a good spring. Both arms blasted and powder coated satin black, pivot points lubed and refitted replacing the now rusty ageing faded 14 year old ones. Caps treated with https://www.gtechniq.co.uk/shop/auto...tyre-and-trim/

all you need is a satin black rattle can, take them off, prep and spray them. I have done mine once, but they need a redo... unlike doggy i don't see a reason to powder-coat mine as the only special thing about my car is the fact that it's a saloon, it has the 2.0dti in it so mweh not worth spending all that money on that.

As the arms are in line of sight of stone chips and also the original finish certainly looks like powdercoat is the reason i got them done that way. Ive seen nice painted ones before but i really want it to be a one stop job and not return to it so coating was the way forward. Only slightly more than a rattle can, and besides which you can blast and paint the underside with the spring and the pivots as well without runs as powder is draw in isnt it by the electrical charge.

It is 4/5 years in the making and i got it quite cheap with lots of work needing to be done. My 13 plate Mokka as poorly looking wiper arms, only because the Vectra has had so much done slowly to it did i notice how poor the wiper arms were. Other than that it was largely unnoticed.

I wonder where you buy your satin black rattle cans as mine cost 1 pound...I get them from poundland... no way am I paying more for something that has almost no shine to it. Anyway I get your need for sort it out and be done with it... use hamerite satin black and you can do the same but you'll have to deal with potential runs if you are to enthusiastic.

Also lasts a lot longer and can take some stone abuse as that is what I have on the subframe but for the wipers? Nope el cheapo the cheapskate paint will do.

That wouldnt do for me though, its hard enough to remove all the rust so I'd want them blasting first. Then these cans cost a reasonable amount. making powdercoat the coating of choice.

Lol it does the same but I get you it's not that they make the paint themselves they just buy up a big load at a considerable discount so the rattle cans are cheap I also buy their primer for those little bits and as long as you allow it to dry properly before applying the paint works just fine... oww and I don't bother sanding it down with sandpaper neither I just use some soapy scour pads wash the lot and do the prep work...

The only reason why I have to do mine again is because the last time I did it I only put one coat of paint on. If I would've done 3 like I normally would it would still be looking like new. But for one I couldn't be arsed to go to town to get enough cans of satin black.. and I got a call to help someone out so I had to make do with what was enough for one go and go ASAP. This meant that the arms were barely dry as unlike you I don't have a spare set. If I did they would've gotten the right treatment.

But yeah if I had to pay that much for the materials... I would powdercoat mine too.

    • Exhaust centre bracket repositioned so its central, it was never perfect after the centre silencer was removed.
    • Iinvestigated lamp fail to find i hadn't even swapped over the standard orange lamps to the Osram chrome ones when the AFLs were refitted earlier in the year. No issues found but scotchbrite all contact points and red rubber grease the orings to stop them dry seizing in as its a common evil of the Vectra headlights and AFL ones have a tendency to burn the contacts out.
    • Bumper red clips replaced as there was nothing left to grip against.
