• Fitted a new gearstick bush https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REPAIR-KI...0/264296345675
• First impressions not a massive upgrade like the 3 gearbox mounts had and i definitely need to reset the cables and see then. Also the first time Ive properly looked at the mechanism so now know how to extract it all the easy way. Took it all apart anyway to have a look and clean and re-lube all bearing surfaces. On the return spring 2 clear tubes which must be some kind of dampers have worn and fell apart so put some new on that even though is oversized isn't going to fall of in a hurry as in both positions its held in place. But to just remove the gear stick after removing the trim its just the socket in the middle that needs popping of the ball joint after the 4 screws are removed. The lever that moves when the stick is moved side to side doesn't need removing as the lever on the stick just comes out of the hole its not fixed in or clipped in.

Its already in the pipeline, IF i can find a leather supplier that actually sells proper black and not dark grey for the gear knob I can send you pics of the 15 odd samples Ive gotten through so far and show you emails to trimmers that have not replied

I've got some thin black leather sheet in the shed still... I think. Will need a clean and conditioning, but if it's still in good nick you're welcome to it.

The ones that have been helpful are these, all have sent samples and ive had about 10 off Crest

This place will be doing it he's been helpful but everyone seems to like Nappa black but in reality compared to the VXR gear knob its a grey not a black and that's a 160k worn VXR one to boot. https://www.inspireautomotive.co.uk/

The problem is once you get the samples most are not fully black as mentioned above, or the black ones have to much embossing or are too shiny.

Why not take it to a local upholstery cleaning and get them to make it from scratch in the colour of your choice?

Well you could go for the next option and that is... match the lot to your new gaiter colour by any of those upholstery places... will be more expensive but seems to.me to.be your only option... did you check if the astra vxr one is the same?
