    Default Nokia N95

    Hi,

I've recently taken delivery of my N95 upgrade phone. Very, very good stuff on it, sat nav, 5.0 meg pixel camera, real player, music players the lot!

Only thing that concerns me is that Nokia claim the battery standby life to be around 215 hours (approx 8 days). I fully charged mine up last night, and now its low - Ok i have been messing with it more than normal today - but surely it must improve?!?

The Sat-nav appears to only work if you know the geographical co-ordinates of your destination! What good is that if your lost in the middle of nowhere?!?

Can anyone shed any light on any of the above?

    JC

I believe that when you "close" some of the applications on it they don't actually close.

I think there's a few threads on avforums.com and modaco.com about the N95, and how to make sure that the applications close properly.

I've been looking at this as an upgrade for my N73 - it looks to be a decent phone, but as far as the battery goes IIRC the N95 has a smaller battery than the N73 & that needs charging every day, especially if bluetooth is switched on. My previous phone, the N70, had the same battery as the N95 & also needed charging every day. The Symbian phones use alot of juice so don't go away for the weekend without your charger

Just got an upgrade myself, I originally actually fancied a N93i but the handset was that bad, poor quality, so many returns, Vodafone have discontinued it !!!
And first impressions where that the first batch of N95's where not much better, they have had a lot of returns on them as well.
So in the end I opted for a N73 as it has, for the most part, proven to be reliable. It's certainly a lot better than my old N70 that’s for sure, very impressed so far.

The battery life is never what they say it is.. i don't know where they get their figures from.. Best bet, if posible, turn down the brightness of the screen. Also, is there a memory manager on there.. Like on PDA's (Windows Mobile), you can list the running programs in the system menu and close them properly.

a lot of bugs and software issues on the nokia n95 as there were on the n73 when that came out. ive had the n73 since christmas, good battery life and there have been 2 software/firmware updates to fix all the little bugs that you can get free from nokia service centres or do yourself if you have the nokia update driver software on your pc

When i was due an upgrade, i read loads of reviews about the N95, great phone but all of them mentioned the low battery life.
Personally I can't be doing with charging a phone every day so I went for an N73, all the features of my old 6680 but in a smaller package and with a better battery!
