    Default 1.9cdti 150 low power???

we have recently took delivery of a new 1.7cdti astra van at work and i went out in it today for the first time.

At low revs (below 1700) it seems to pull a lot better than my 1.9 cdti vectra does, in first and second at least( only had to go to the other end of the estate!!!). Above this when the turbo cuts in the the vectra would leave it for dust but it still seems weird that it would be more powerfull at the lower revs. You can feel when the turbo comes in so I don'y think it because that comes in any earlier than my vectra.

Anyone got any theory's on this or is it just a trick of my mind??

As it's a van it's a fair bet it will be geared lower than your car, maybe that would explain it.

Yeah down to gearing and weight. Remember the Astramax van? Could beat a lotus all the way up to about 130mph before the lotus could catch it.

We had a Corsavan with a 1.3 Cdti engine, just about the quickest thing to 40mph i've ever been in! Sadly 40mph was about it's limit

As well as the thing about the weight already mentioned, the 1.9 engine has a lower compression ratio than the 1.7, due to the extra boost I should imagine. That's one of the reasons it doesn't accelerate terribly well before the turbo kicks in.
Overall though, the vectra 150 should be much faster animal than the astra 1.7.
