Default Wrong place, Right People, Astra 150CDTI question

I know its not the best forum for Astra's, but would value any help,

Last night I went out in the wifes Astra SRI 150 diesel, on the way back from filling up with a fresh tank of diesel I popped it in to SPORT mode ,

Coming down a back road (and within the speed limit of course) I was in 3rd pulling through the rev range, got to about 3000rpm , got to about 60/ (sorry 40) and went over a small dip in the road , going round a slight bend, TC came on for a second or so then and limited the engine, after that all was fine and I wooooooshed off to the national speed limit.

I had to stopped to pull out on a junction at the end of the road , again went over a hump in the road again about the same speed going over a roundabout, hitting about 3000 RPM and TC come on for a few seconds again ,

to conditions where very dry and the road was clean, the car has just been services and had a full engine clean out and fuel system clean and is much stronger the before the service,

Do you think its just TC doing its job and stopping wheel spin due to car being lighter after its coming out of the dip in the road ?

Yep, I would have said so, the engine is very torquey so could lose traction over humps etc on the road .. Mine flashes all the time ...

The diesel engine loosens up massively on the 1.9 mate so expect it to get better and better.

Also press and hold the Sport button in to bring up ESP Off on the dashboard. Much more fun

I thought the ESP stiffened up the ride, if I hold in the button will it not switch off TC and keep the ride standard ?

IDS/CDC stiffens the ride, the sport button will not stiffen the suspension unless you chose this option when buying the car ? The sport button will stiffen the steering a bit though ..

Try telling Vauxhall dealers that though! We have an Astra and Zafira auto in the family, both with Sport button and both dealers tried to claim it made the suspension firmer...

Yeah, sad state of affairs when the dealers don`t know what they are talking about, they told me the same when I bought the Astra vxr, couldn`t be bothered to argue with them tho *lol* ...

I usually end up telling them how the car works! Don't know why I bother though, in one ear, out the other!

I was told that too, the sport button firmed up the suspension , changed the map and firmed up the steering,

So it only the steering and map ,

Yep, by map, it basically changes the throttle response so that you have full throttle when it is 1/2 way down, doesn`t actually make the car any faster / more powerful, a bit of clever marketing by vx ..
