    Default 1.9 or 3.0 CDTI

    Hi there,

Possibly looking at purchasing a 2006 Vectra SRI NAV, not sure whether to go for the 150 or 3.0. Does the extra power of the 3.0 make much difference in real world driving. Will get a remap/box very soon after!

What kind of price should I be aiming for an 06 reg to get a good deal?

    Thanks for any help/advice

don't know about price, but unless you want a diesel for super fuel economy then i would definitely say go for the 3.0.....and then a remap!

in my opinion it's worth it, albeit servicing is a little more expensive.

After driving the Father in Laws Signum diesel 3.2
I would say go for the 3.2 as even in standard form it is very rapid for a big car and a remap is always a option

    Cool 3.0 or 1.9 cdti

I've had my 3.0 Signum elite for just over a week and having driven several versions of the 1.9 motor (Vectra, Signum, Saab 9-5) I would definitely go for the bigger motor unless company car tax an issue.

I ran the 173 bhp version in an 02 plate Saab 9-5 putting 120k niles on it in 3 years and it never missed a beat. Over the time I had it I saw 145mph on the clock on a great German autobahn trip and a few months later 49mpg (measured at pump NOT trip) on a fully loaded but admitedly pretty steady family holiday trip from South of France to Calias. Completed this trip on one tankful.

Tmain reasons I didn't stick with a Saab was that they have dropped the 3.0 diesel version.

The 06 Signum version I'm now running seems smoother and better fueled than the Saab application and, together with the 6 speed box it makes a great all rounder.

Nothing wrong with the 1.9 but if the slight extra fuel costs or BIK not any issue then the 3.0 makes the time spent behind the wheel just that much more fun. The smaller engine feels like you can run it out of puff whereas whereas the V6 always feels like it has more to offer unless you're really playing silly games. Not sure about the Sri Vectra but my Elite Signum is not exactly set up for messing with hot hatches on the curvy bits!

Blimey, a bit wordy for my first post!

oops me again, forgot about the price question.........

I spent a few weeks tracking 3.0 Signum's and Vectra estates and finally paid £14,200 for 10 month old, 5k miles from Vauxhall dealer for my signum elite. Had to bargain very hard and missed a few at over a grand more than that so reckon more relaistic price is £15k or so.
Vectra Sri seems a bit cheaper but the 3.0 sell pretty quickly if priced right. If you are serious I could definitely recommend the dealer I used in the end, great service, v. professional and knocked spots of the various Audi, BM and Volvo dealers I tried out.

Ive had my 54 plate 3.0 Signum Design for almost two weeks and the thing I love most about it is the engine, it can effortlessly cruise in top from about 40/50 and is absolutely silent at motorway speeds. It has a nice petrol V6 like growl. Fuel economy is great all things considered, the trip computer is saying 38mpg over 300 miles of mixed driving, and I havent exactly been easy on it. It doesnt give much power beyond 4k but then it doesnt need to with all the low down oomph and 6 gears. Not sure but I reckon the 1.9 would weigh a fair bit less and hence the handling may be better, less nose heavy.

My dad has the 1.9 150 (in his Zafira) and it is also a good engine, but theres no escaping its a diesel. The power delivery seems a bit more peaky and it will rev a bit higher. I was looking for the first decent 1.9 150 or 3.0 and Im so glad i got the V6.

the 1.9 is gutless below 1500ish rpm where as the 3.0 has no problem pulling from 800 rpm in 4th.
If running costs are an issue get the 1.9, if not its 3.0V6 all the way!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
