    Default turbo question

Should you leave the car running for a while after driving to let the turbo cool down before you turn it off?

Yes, manual says 30 secs, but if I've been out for a good blast I'll drive around gently for the last few minutes of the drive to let it cool down.

I always let mine run down round the block then idle for 30 seconds before turning off. Worked on my Volvo turbo which was on 220000 miles on its original turbo when I sold it.

Didn't however work on my last Vectra (B - 2.2 DTi SRi) which blew its turbo in spectacular fashion at 85000miles without any warning! Oops!

Mine gets a gentle run down after any journey.

People think I'm strange for doing it.

especially as my second turbo is also now displaying signs of ****ged bearings!
