Hello all,
Anyone used the meguiars headlight restoration kit?
Not used but seen amazing results on other car forums.
It's good but you can't beat a DA polisher if you have one or know someone who does

Cheers for the quick replies guys appreciated ... only advisory on my MOT back in March was the cloudy / yellow headlights ... so not bad for my 2004 plate V6 cdti.
Nearly a year later just done mine with the kit.

Wow, where do you get this kit?
Halfords used to sell the kit for around about 20 quid, not sure if they still do however

Autoglym do a kit too, I've had good results with that.
because........SIGNUM!
The Sylvania restoration kit is a good product also. It comes with UV blocker clear coat.
Personally, I've found the Meguiar's restoration kit to be a complete waste of time and money after trying it twice on a pair of cloudy headlights and getting awful results. In fact, if you hadn't seen me use the kit, you wouldn't have believed me if I said I'd used it, that is how bad the kit was for me.
What I did find worked and produced very good results was the old fashioned way of doing them using sandpaper and then coating in a few light coats of clear UV protective lacquer. Yes, it'll take a bit of time and patience to get the desired results but I'd rather it take a little longer to do properly than keep wasting 30 - 40 minutes using these restoration kits.
I started off with 320 grit wet & dry sandpaper to remove the heavy oxidation, lubricating the lights with a water and washing up liquid solution (5ml Fairy in 1L spray bottle). Once most of the oxidation was gone, I then moved up through different grit levels - 600, 1000, 2000 and finishing with 3000 grit - until the light was smooth, clean and then dried with a microfibre cloth. Mask off the surrounding bodywork using a bin liner or newspaper and then applied 5 light coats of a UV resistant clear lacquer. A couple of hours prep work and 10-15 mins between coats of lacquer (weather dependant) and 24 hours from final coat to lacquer being fully hardened.
Cost: £4.99 for the lacquer from Amazon; £3 for the sandpaper from the Bay.
