Who's this St George bloke then? - never heard of him!

Now if it was 30th Novemeber, I'd be having some haggis and neeps!

That's my dilemma D. Do I have Fish & Chips or Chicken Tikka Masala?

lol, well the latter is now as 'British' as the former (in terms of popularity).

You've just highlighted a point though, there isn't really any National Dish of England is there?

I've just been discussing this a few colleagues and we've come up with -

    1. Cornish Pasty
    2. Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding

    or my personal favourite -

    3. English Breakfast

I'll be cooking an English Breakfast for tea tonight. (any excuse really)

In Suffolk they have been trying to get St Edmund (re) instated as the patron Saint - apparently it was him before this George chap rescued damsels in distress by shoving a stick down a lizard's throat (or something like that anyway).

St Edmund's day doesn't quite have the same ring as St George's day, does it? I blame Rowan Atkinson and the Blackadder series.

Happy St George's day everyone. Don't let our emblem be hijacked by the BNP (unlike this thread)

Happy St. George's day to all.
I assume We should all go around drinking pints of warm real ale, eating roast dinners and jam roly-poly, followed by a little light Morris Dancing?
I seem to recall that St George was Turkish, so maybe a kebab would be best?

    Phil
