Need help driving car today when i tried to change up had no clutch stopped after 10mins had clutch back a bit but when i tried to drive after about 20 foot wheels locked up. When i had a look from the smell it seams clutch fluid over the back of the engine and the down pipe towed car home anyone tell me if my box has gone.

well if there was fluid all down her it could e a seal or something in your hydro clutch system, couldn't really tell ya if the box has given up without looking at it m8, although i dont like the sound of the wheels locking up,last car i seen done that a mainshaft bearing had collapsed in the gear box

Having car back some time tomorrow bank acc £900.00 less than last week. Gearbox had split from the bellhouse to the end of the box bits of the inside were in the bellhouse when we took the box off. So new box, clutch, flywheel all came to just under £900 and tomorrowgot to give my mate £200 for the a weeks use of his garage and his yts who helped me.

I thought the F23 box was supposed to be really strong, what caused it to break up?

I was about to say the same - I've never heard of a F23 taking a dump like that before. Getrag boxes are usually pretty good, even considering the fact they're built in Italy.

doc, they put the F17 on some of the early 2.0Di and 2.0DTi Astras. It's a bad box on the 1.6, the 2.0DTi just trashes the F17.

Even my F23 is getting a pounding with 206lb/ft, 2nd gets a battering.
