Chris Knott Insurance can't insure me as i park outside my house
So after everyone mention chris knott. I decided to try them. I had an email saying they couldn't insure me so asked why and apparently it's because I park my car outside my house. I live in a nice area, very low crime if any. Biggest load of boll0cks I've ever heard

That sounds ridiculous. I park my car outside my house on driveway and they've insured me, and my street is right next to some dodgy as council flats

Don't worry about it, I work part time in the security industry and any activity related to that they don't insure you either.

I've just had a strange one with a company called 'Quotemehappy' - I always keep one policy running to cover any cars I buy and sell - with this company you can go online enter the details of your new vehicle and transfer the cover without getting the 20 - 30 quid admin charge most want. Ok, so when I renewed it last July I had it to cover a 2001 BMW Z3 which I ran through the summer months and took it off the road in October and transferred the cover to a Vauxhall Corsa I had aquired. In June I wanted the cover to revert back to the BMW, but when I tried to do it, it wouldn't accept the vehicle, saying that they were unable to insure it. I contacted them and they said they couldn't provide cover because the car was over 13 yrs old - I pointed out to them that the car was 14yrs old when I first took the cover out and they were happy to insure it then. They said it was a mistake and they shouldn't have provided the cover and all I could do was to cancel the cover which would incur a £50 cancellation fee. Anyway to cut a long story short they eventually agreed to cancel the cover and waive the £50 fee and gave me an extra years No Claims Discount.
Just insured it now with Saga for £138

Maybe someone from @ChrisKnottInsurance could have some feed back as to why? Im pretty sure the thick end of motorists don't have a drive way, private parking or a Garage.

Yup, i was just laughing at all this last weekend cos i was explaining how ive now got full business cover for both cars due to me doing different doors and venues etc so ive got cover to go to anything related with work. Also it seems years ago that we would be walking each other to cars after work as that hasn't happened for years now.
I think the car's are at more risk in a superstore carpark lol
It annoyed me at the time cos the places where i park have either full cctv cover or are being secured by me or part of the team lol more so when they have our dinner in the car lol

I had a similar thing with an insurance company when asked where was the car parked at night I said at home in the drive but when I am on night shift its in a company car park that flood lit covered with cctv with a security guard on the gate, only entry is by pass ID. its safer there than at home but they did not want to know so told them to stuff their insurance where the sun don't shine.

Cost me more to insure my car if I put it in the garage, bit cheaper on the drive, then cheaper on the road. Apparently it was due to people who kept crashing on their drive or into their garage.

I heard that parking on your drive was more expensive because car thieves know exactly what house to break into to steal the keys.
