Default The Is3 Needs New Front Bumper

the poor is3 is in need of a new replacement front bumper, after me
examining it closely today the lower part just next to the lower grille the
paint has cracked in lots of places think this was due to me being a silly boy
and hitting a kerb 2 weeks after the splitter was fitted so i`ll have to get
new1 next week from dealer,i might aswell get new splitter at the same time

i do have an idea in claiming on my insurance as i have no claims protector
so i`ll make enquiries at dealer and see if they can do it for me then that
way i`ll only have to pay £250 excess as thats how much the splitter would
    cost me alone.

Can't you just get the bumper repainted Andy if it's just the paint that's cracked - and fit a new splitter?

yeah suppose i cud get it repaired but its all the messing around in
removing the splitter which is snapped in the middle anyway, then removing
the dried bonding but its going to cost me over £200 just for a new splitter
alone so i might aswell pay bit more and get the lot replaced,i`ll make
enquiries monday and decide then,i am very fussy when it comes to me car
as espacially if its on show then i want it to look spot on.

Andy, you do what you think is right, I have to agree though, it would always niggle me if my car was patched up. Would rather have new parts.

Yeah true, if the excess is £250 then it's only £50 more over the cost of a new splitter - although it still goes down as a claim on his insurance.

It wouldn't be 'patched up' Matt - it'd be a new splitter (which is broken) and a resprayed bumper (which only has cracking paint due to the impact on the splitter) - but knowing Andy (and the difference in price between the splitter and his excess) I expect he'll go for the all new option.

if you have no claims protection then the insurance claim is the way to go imo m8, have done this myself once and all replaced and not just repaired, much better to have new for the cost of the excess, and much much cheaper too

yeah think i`ll go for a claim,i`ll get somefin to make it worse like make a
hole in the bumper or somefin in the same area as were the paint is cracked
and that way the inspector will see but i can`t see an inspector coming to
view the damage if its just the bumper so i`ll get dealer to sort the claim out
for me and also get them to order a new spoiler,i am only going to ask them
to just supply and paint the bumper and spoiler and i`ll do the rest myself
and they can claim for the labour etc as i want the job done right 1st time
i just dont have the trust in them having me car in the bodyshop,me leather
re trim may just come back in metro blue

The engineer came to look at my Vectra and it was only a bumper and fog light!!! The labour figure was £186 and they still came????

Either way Andy, it will look brill when done.
