Default Insignia hatch or estate for large 3 kids

Hi all. So I'm still thinking of selling my vectra, and I've been looking at insignia's. At this moment in time with only 4 of us the hatch would more than big enough but is the hatchback suitable for family's with 3 kids ? ( I'm thinking ahead ) the kids are 6 and 4 and really only need booster seats now. I'm going to look again tomorrow at a few cars. So will a hatchback be ok or is an estate a better option ? Thanks

I can't add much to this as I had the insignia before I had 3 kids but I have a vectra now and we fit 3 kids in fine and I don't think the insignia is any smaller , I have 2 full car seats and then a 7 year old

Thanks for reply Jamie . I think by time number 3 comes my daughter won't need a seat at all ( she's 6 now ) so probably only need room for a booster and a baby seat again. I'd love an estate but pushing my budget really

For me the boot space is more important. I have 3 children, when they were younger we could put things like children's bikes etc in the boot (when going to the park etc) of our CMAX whereas we can't use the vectra in that situation. It is easier with an estate, but I know what you mean about the budget though.

I actually bought a van for this reason , my son now has a full size bmx and even the vectra boot isn't that big lol

I don't think the estate has any more room than the hatch in the boot - estate look narrower. You get +20 litres of space with rear seats in place, and and extra 45 litres when they're folded with the tourer

thanks for replies all. I take the point on the estate not being much more roomy in the back.
Heres another question , how do I identify the engines on the insignias ? Like my vec cdti 150 is easy to identify its the 150 from oil filler cap etc, is this also true of the insignia ? I seen a few 140's but for such a large car I think I'd prefer the 2 litre 160. Any thoughts ?
