Talking Brake Upgrade & Eibach Springs Fitted

Done this morning by a friendly mechanic at work as a cash job. A few things suprised me...

Firstly, how badly i'd painted the calipers! In the process of fitting, some noticeable chunks of paint either flaked or chipped off! Guess what I'll be doing next time I have a day off then?

Next, the drop from SRi springs to Eibach is barely noticeable - I really hope it improves the handling, or I'll be a bit annoyed!

And possibly most suprisingly - on my facelift 1.9 CDTi SRi Estate, there is NO brake sensor wire! I thought it was fitted on every model, but there wasn't one fitted when the old brakes came off, and nowhere to fit it with the new ones on!

Anyway, a few pics if anyone cares...apologies for the quality, but they're on a phone camera!

Nice shiny new calipers...before the paint chipped off!

    Shiny, clean Eibach springs

Nearside front wheel arch with shock absorber removed

The old calipers...which weighed an absolute TON!

And the finished product, bit of a funny angle as it's still on the ramp at about head height, but I had to dash out on a job!

The rest of the car's in a filthy condition, but I'll clean it up for the meet on Sunday and hopefully get some pics there.

    Nice!

The brake pad wear sensor is normally on the front nearside caliper. The wire may have been missing (from not being replaced when the last person changed the pads) but there should definitely be the connector for it and the position on the caliper.

There is deffo no brake pad sensor on my facelift! When mine was been tech'd the other week I noticed the hand terminal display flashed up 'brake pad warning not present'.
