Whilst I was checking out what service parts I'm getting for the Vec I came across what I think is a pretty interesting article (link at the bottom) about the performance differences between performance air filter and OEM types.
Now I am im not really mechanically minded, I just enjoy researching things before I go ahead and buy them and this made me think twice about cotton and foam type air filters.
I've read a few things online where people would be concerned about the increase in contaminants getting through and having two effects.
1. That they can cause 'dusting damage' to turbo blades reducing performance.
2. They may increase the amount of air getting to the combustion chamber but due to the increase in particles getting through this means the air is of a poorer quality and the burn itself is no better as a result.
I'd be interested to see any counters to what written in the link to, there are plenty of people on here who really know there stuff and would probably be able to read much more into the information on offer than I ever could.
