There is not Red Master As such with Vauxhalls - Your thinking of Fords, as far as I know they are the only ones that have 'Red' and 'Blue' keys

When I bought my car a couple of months ago it only had one key. A couple of days wait, and a quick trip to Vauxhall I got a duplicate flippy key spare thingy. I think it cost the company I bought the car off around £80+VAT.

With Vx keys there is no master key AFAIK.. Each key has a unique transponder number which is programmed into the ECU so the car recognises it and allows the ignition to start. Plus the normal laser cutting of the shape of the key itself. Maximum of 3 keys can be stored in the ECU. Only thing they may need is the security code (like a radio code) which allows them to program the ECU

When I bought my previous Vectra B, through Network Q, it was supplied with one key
I refused to sign the VX customer acceptance until they could find the other key
I waited near on two hours while various phone calls were made
Network Q then eventually sent a fax
This specified that I was accepting the car with just 1 key
The dealership, VX, and Network Q were to be allowed a further 72 hours to try and locate the key, a non-chip key would be provided if required
If the second key could not be found within 72 hours the car would be returned, all the locks changed, and replaced, with a hire car during the replacement

I got a phone call the following day asking me to book the car in as they were pretty sure they would never find it!

I also noted that they had removed the stereo during the lock replacement

    There's no "master key".
To cut the key you either need the key code from the security card or someone who can cut a copy of an existing key.
To program the immobiliser you need the security code (again, from the vehicle security card).
Without a transponder/chip in the key, you won't be able to use it to start the engine, and that's probably something you'll want to be able to do!

Vectra comes with 2 identical plip keys and a "Car Pass" card which details all security info.

I think the Mondeo I used to own came with 1 or 2 plip keys and 1 plain "master key" with a blue tab in it.

It's Fiats that have essential "red keys" IIRC.

Fiats don't have the 'red master key' - 2 keys were supplied with my Stilo, and both are flippy blue types. Both can be used.
