Nairn is lovely ... we went Nairn Loch Loy holiday park a few years ago ... about a minutes walk to the beach and it was fab. We put some serious mileage in on the trip and it was bliss. A few of the places we went:

Capoldis Ice Cream shop in Brora (Misus's Dad's family lives there so she knows it and it is good ice cream ... they also have a distillery)
A large chunk of the whiskey trail and a free tour and sample was enjoyed at one of the distilleries
    Fort William
    Loch Ness
    Cairn Gormes
Inverness a fair bit ... they have a big Tesco there
Struay Hill --- amazing views out across the landscape
a bit of Dolphin spotting at Fortrose
A brewery tour and purchase of very nice organic beer at the Black Isle Brewery

    a few ideas

Hope you have a great trip!

take a visit to spey bay, mate, signposted from fochabers on the A96 between Aberdeen and Elgin, beautiful and pretty historic, when are you planning on being in Aberdeen?
Try a visit to Findhorn, signposted from the A96 at Forres, and if you want to go off the beaten track so to speak, follow the coast road from Aberdeen, signposted Peterhead/Fraserburgh and this road will eventually lead back to the A96 at Fochabers, this has the actual tourist/coastal route, hth, and feel free to ask any more questions as the wife was brought up in the Elgin/Forres area.

just a thought, if you are in the moray/spey valley area you will have to visit the distilleries, theres plenty of them and if you fany a good driving experience take the Grantown on Spey road from Nairn, the scenery will be stunning at this time of year

    We stayed at Lochloy too.

I used the undiscovered scotland site to plan our visit. For example would never have known about Duncansby Head a mile ot two from John O Groats.

Pop up to Arbroath for the abbey and of course Smokies! You can also visit Dundee from there, they have an 'interesting' ship in the docks

If you venture towards Inverness, you could visit Culloden Battlefield, Urquhart Castle (on the shore of Loch Ness).

    Just a couple of ideas.

    Have a great time
