Cheers Dave.
I am surprised that the more powerful varient of the VXR is a cheaper insurance group than the less powerful. I'm thinking it's a typo by Total Vauxhall now.

Guys, try taking a look at the official ABI ratings at:
http://www.abi.org.uk/carinsurance/search.asp
Bear in mind that their are two systems in place now, the old 1-20 system and the new 1-50 system. Some cars have become relatively cheaper to insure on the new system, others more expensive.
BTW, according to the ABI, the 2.8T is group 15 in the Elite and 18 in the VXR, regardless of BHP. That must be where the 15 thing came from.
On the new system, the old Elite is 29, the new higher power one 30 and all VXRs 36. Interesting that the new 250ps Elite is nearly as powerful as the old VXR but much cheaper to insure!!
I've just had an online quote for a Focus ST2 and it came out at £706. It's good to know that the VXR's closest competitor is more expensive to insure.
Have you tried a comparison site should be able to get it even cheaper than that, just got a good deal on mine at http://www.moneysupermarket.com/motor/ thought mine was going to cost me a bomb as have some points on licence.
A focus ST2 ain`t a vectra competitor though, the Mondeo ST is surely , I have read before TV got it wrong with the group as did Autocar ??
Stop worrying about it and go an buy one Alex, you know you wan`t to !!! I would buy a pre March 23 06 255 for the tax implications ...
yep - i'd agree with that Tommy, the Focus ST is up against the rest of the hatches, like the Golf R32, Astra VXR etc etc.
