Default Eibach springs on standard shocks...

Will it be alright to still use my standard shocks when I buy an Eibach spring kit??

Probably not.... the active uses the 'LS' suspension, so lowering it -30mm may lead to the shocks bottoming out...it's far safer to use them with the SRI style shocks as they are already -15mm, so are much less prone to bottoming out.

Also, the std absorbers will have to work harder than they were designed for and will therefore wear out quicker. Work harder as the energy to absorb will be the same but over a shorter moving distance = more work.

Take Marks advice and get either SRi shocks or uprated shocks to match the springs.

Wassup Dan, you dont trust me?

The reason i said they are OK to use with standard shocks is that from what you read about them on various forums and on the specs on different websites, many many people use specifically Eibachs with std shocks...just aslonmg as they shocks are in good condition.

Eibach springs are designed to work with standard or uprated dampers.

In the Vectra C's case, the Eibachs are designed around the standard damper setting, so you will be fine. SRi dampers or other uprated dampers will just make the set up even better.

Your looking at 25-30mm drop on non SRi suspension, or 10-15mm on SRi/GSi suspension, just ensure you buy the set with the correct axle weight.

Well I have got the lowered springs on my signum with standard shocks, and boy has it dropped from the Elite high setup. The only thing that I have noticed is that if i go over a speed hump to quick they WILL bottom out.
As far as I am concerned (just my opinion) it all depends on what you want from the drop. For me it is just cosmetic. If you want to throw your car round the twisties then go for a shock/spring setup. If you just want to lower your car for the look then use the standard shocks. If the shocks go over time so what, buy some more. You would have bought some anyway if you were going down the shock/spring setup.
Its your call but why throw away the shocks when there is nothing wrong with them???? use them till they are dead and then change them

As has been proven time and time again by folks on here like Spikey.. if you use standard shocks they WILL bottom out as the damped stroke is shortened by the amount you will lower the car by, when you fit the lowered springs..

Shorter shocks have different valving to cope with the shorter travel they have..

FACT.. not all vectra shocks are the same...

I stand by my recommendation above.. if you have SRi suspension then fine, use the -30 eibachs...but if you have standard suspension you may well suffer jolts as the shocks bottom..
