    Default 2.2 dti

I have scanned throught various threads regarding the 2.2 dti.

is this engine as bad as it sounds. theres a few that i have seen forsale well under my price budget and thought i could get it chipped and few other mods and have some spare.

what should i look out for etc. i don;t wanna spend 5k on a sri 2.2dti and find its a load of ****

i got the 2.0 dti remapped now and i can't fault it.

help me please and hopefully save me a few grand

As a rule, the 2.2DTi, seems to be pretty good, I've had some 'issues' with mine shall we say, but when in good health, it goes well and reasonably economically. Mine has had Turbo problems pretty much since I had it, resulting in replacement after a long and drawn out battle with Vauxhall, it looks now like the replacement has done its bearings.

The main issues are the Turbo, boost hoses and charge hoses. Thoroughly check them, get a good warranty as part of a deal and you'll be right.

Mine will be going very soon, hopefully the next few weeks, but it will be going back through the dealers, I have too much of a conscience to pass it on to anyone here!

How much did you pay to get your 2.0DTi re-mapped and did it give much more poke?

    Cheers,
    Chris

Andy Sri - When i read some more post the big major issues are just the pipes that go to to turbo splitting thats all. my main worry is things that cost the earth etc.

I am thinking on one of these as it going to save a fair bit plus i noticed the cdti has a few probs to its name too.

Vectra Power - My re-map cost me nothing as my car was a demo car for a new business who is re-mapping. my engine is in a vec b facelift, it certainly gives a good punch. i must say it left a imported tuned celica for dead.
Not had in RR yet though. (maybe won't if swap before i get chance)

Only things that cost the earth are the Turbo, anywhere from £750 - £1000 fitted, to the fuel pump, which can go west, these can be (well) into four figures, worst case scenario, based on a chat I was having with GG yesterday, perhaps even £2000!!

Hoses are about £60 - £70, fit them yourself!!

Cool, who did the re-map for you? I guess the early 2.0 DTi Vec C would be similar?

Andy cheers for that. spose there place like lmf with club dicounts etc if the worse did happen.

Vectra power. A guy who runs http://www.mtek-performance.co.uk hes called mike. i would probs say the 2.0 dti engines are the same. same output etc just diff body. also remember the Vec b Is lighter then the C.

I think mine rumbles some were between 125 to 130 bhp as i got induction kit on sheilded from heat and the irmy exhaust. i keep up with my mate who has a Skoda Fabia VRS

Ive got a 2.2 dti and only had 1 issue, the silicon pipe from the turbo to the intercooler split. got a new one and no probs since. Absolutely love it.

Problems with remap is if you get one with a hybrid ecu, you got extremely little chance of a remap, unless you go to germany

whats with the turbo hoses falling out?
Vectra B 2.0 DTi in her lifecicle of 150k, had half of its miles driven without a turbo because the hoses kept brakin up or falling out. The Opel dealer fixes them (attahces them or replacing them) after 10k they brake up again, and so on until presnt day.
The guy is so fed up by it, he says he will never buy Opel diesel again.
"Opel can make a good petrol, but not a diesel" - he says.
why does he have so many hoses problems?
I mean its a HOSE, and they should learn how to place a hose!?!
