Default Overfuelling Problem Help Needed please

I Have Had A Popping Noise From My Exhausts For Some Time Know Been Into 2 Independant Vx Garages Who Both Said Their Is Nothing Wrong With The Engine And It Must Be Down To The Exhaust.
Had Enough Of Arguing With Vx That The Exhaust Only Carrys What The Engine Gives It And Went To Mij Performance Who Fitted The Exhaust. They Obviously Told Me What I Already Knew That Their Isn't Anything Wrong With The Exhaust. The Really Helpfull Engineers Had A Look At The Car And Said Straight Away That It Was Overfuelling And The Popping Was Unburnt Fuel In The Exhaust Igniting From Heat, Which Sounds Pretty Spot On The Fault.
Downflaw Is Though How Do I Find Out Why It's Doing It.
I've Lokked At My Plugs, Black As The Ace Of Spades Which Means The Engineers Are Correct Overfuelling. I've Changed The Plugs And Gapped Them To 1.2mm Which Helped Slightly Reduce The Popping, Cut Out The Oval Plastic Insert Inside Top Of Airbox So No Restriction And All Filter Is Used. Don't Get Me Wrong It's Amasing If You Flaw It, My Mates Got A Honda S2000 Roadster 237bhp And He Couldn't Keep Up With Me From A Standing Start Couldnm't Believe It, If You Want To Drive Like A Normal Person Though It's Sluggish, And Everytime Youy Take Your Foot Off Throttle You Get A Vfffffff Boom.

All Out Of Ideas, I've Checked For Split Hoses, Air Leaks Don't Know. One Possibility Is The Maf Sensor Maybe. Did Notice Though On My Previous Car 1.8sxi The Maf Sensor Had Mesh Infront Of Both Open Ends. On This Car It's Straight Through And No Evidence That They Have Been Cut Out Must Be Made That Way Maybe Anybody With 2.0t Noticed The Same?

Any Ideas Would Be Greatly Helpfull As The Vx Monkey Wrenches Are About As Much Use As Tits On Fish.

any MOT centre would give you a reading run on how the emissions are...

just get them to do a 'floating measurement' as you increase the revs and then see how it reads..

I've had mine checked at 'Track and road' on Rayleigh, essex..

do you get any management lights ? ............if the car was over fueling the ecu would spot it useing both o2 sensors and give you a fuel trim fault code..

you could try the coolant temp sensor as vauxhall one's do tend to play up could just be over fueling enulf to give you the pop but not to give the ecu a fault ....................
    hope this helps benny

ps all you need to check on a gas analizer is the hidra carbons in the gas (unburnt fuel)

No ecu fault codes or lights. Have noticed my coolant boiling within the bottle though know you mension it. If you touch the accelator the coolants bubbles in the bottle.
where abouts is the coolant temp sensor? If it was faulty wouldn't it also come up with a fault code. The only fault code I have ever had was 2 months ago ish and it was p00 something crackshaft sensor a low input, then it went away the vx garage had no ideas, nor did they really care I don't think.

boiling in the bottle >? ...you shure the head gasket aint gone ? or is it the movement of the water you can see ....? im not 100% but it is on the back of the engine next to the exhurst manifold on the right of the engine above the gearbox (has two pin plug)....it can go faulty but still be within spec for the ecu ...but out of spec with the coolant / oil /cylinder temp ...makeing the car over fuel ............if vx plug tech 2 in you will see if the dater in the ecu is the same as the dash dial ... if you would like i know a place that can tech2 test it for you in wolves and i might be around to take a look for you if you get my drift ....pm me if your intrested ...
