cdti 150 dump valve

Looking for any info here, I'm pondering with the idea of fitting a dump valve on my sri cdti 150, don't know much about these but looking for something a bit different for my car, would this help with the lag you sometimes get and does anyone know how these sound on a diesel.
The car has a de-catted straight through exhaust fitted with a pipercross air filter and a blanked off egr valve, also has a tuning box fitted, cheers.

It ill make your car sound like a chavmobile, and will not reduce lag at all. It may even reduce performance.

Would be better to solve the problem that is causing the lag, and get a decent remap at the same time. You can have bags of torque from 1500rpm when these engines are correctly tuned.

What's the difference between a map and a tuning box, I paid £300 for mine a few years ago.

What sort of gains are to be had then if I ditch the box and go for a map, also what are the rough costs, cheers

Cost wise I'll let Paul answer. It may be that you'd be better going for a remote remap or posting in the regional area.

Gain wise what do you want?

My 120 was putting out 120 (funny that) now it's closer to 160 BUT it is so much smoother that I can drive it on the mway in 6th which I couldn't do before below 85 mph ( private road obviously). I asked to have my torque limited due to the box but it is much more than it was (approx 10% over the max rated for box).

Basically a PROPER remap will give you a car you will enjoy!

Get Paul to remap it for you!! Mines mapped and is a lot better to drive than on a tuning box

I know many don't like dump valves and are very aggressive in their rejection but I see no way it should reduce performance and it could indeed reduce lag but only if set up correctly. Whether you are actually talking about lag or something else is a different question.
