This was from yesterday on the way to work.

The car in front of the fiesta was just spinning his wheels, he eventually gives up and reverses out the way.

Just to point out, it was also -5 outside and my wipers had started to freeze up.

Well its the law here in Lithuania to have winter tyres on from beginning of November till beginning of April which helps but also because we are almost guaranteed snow we are more geared up for it and drivers over here can handle the slippery conditions. Much harder in the UK as winter tyres not mandantory and snow isnt always guaranteed so arent really prepared for it.

I'm the only one that's made it into the office today and just drove up the hills in Bradford with no issues even with all the snow thats fallen in the past 2 days, much to the annoyance of other drivers that I passed spinning their wheels.

I was on lieu day yesterday, so didn't go to work. Got here this morning to find that no one got in yesterday and they closed the branch, so everyone had a day off - typical of my luck

We had fitted a set of 4 to the wifes Astra and the difference between my Signum with 19" wheels and and the Astra with winter tyres is amazing.

We towed my Signum up the road so I could park it with her Astra lol

I do remember seeing a video on youtube showing the difference between summer and winter tyres and the stopping differences, i was well impressed but never bothered getting any.

I have had the winter wheels/tyres for 2 years and this is the first time I have needed them.

Nice to have the option even if they dont get used for another 2 years.

Wait till the summer and people start selling them cheap. I paid £100 for the tyres and £50 for the wheels.

First time since 2010 where, even up here in Scotland, we'd have needed them. I made it home through deep snow on Thursday morning, as I did in 2010. Without doubt they have their benefits but I think the cost out weight the benefits.

I simply can't afford a set for "summer" and a set for winter, plus a second set of alloys/wheels to go with. I'll stick with my all seasons as I know they work.
