    Default AFL Headlamp adjustment?

I've noticed on my car, when I'm following someone, that the driverside headlight is higher than the nearside. The driver side always looks really bright in the bumper of a car I'm following, whereas the near side only seems as bright when going over a bump or something.

If you stand and face the car with the lights on and then slowly crouch down, the driver side melts your eyeballs before the nearside does. So is it possible to adjust the headlamp height? I've found the little alan key type adjusters on top the headlamp under the bonnet, but no matter how many times I turn them around it makes no different, so I was wondering if these are redundant on factory fit AFL and only work on standard headlamps.

    Any ideas anyone?

Strangely, when you view the headlamp pattern agains the garage door they seem perfectly level, but they aren't

Can't say I've noticed that on mine, if the lights had a levelling fault you would get the AFL warning light symbol flashing on the speedo display.

Do they automatically keep themselves level then with no manual adjustment? The drivers side is definately a bit higher than the near, meaning that the drivers side dazzles you over a bump or dip slightly before the nearside does. Dazzle is probably the wrong word but you know what I mean. I assumed that they are set at a level and then the auto levelling keeps them at that level as their set height but auto adjusts up and down on that level as road conditions dictate?

Yes there are sensors on the rear and front axles along with a steering angle sensor. The only adjustment I'm aware of is for driving in Europe on the right. It may be compensating for the weight of the driver so driving slightly higher, it could also be just part of the system for the drivers side to be slightly higher.

I have never noticed this but I have never looked for it either. I will keep an eye out on mine over the weekend.

So are we saying that AFL headlights can't be adjusted manually?.....

My problem is that the beam simply isn't high enough. Obv high beam is the answer but when other cars are coming head on and I have to use dipped, I can't see ****!.....

I wonder if adjusting the angle of the headlamp unit itself would work or would the AFL simply re-adjust to the old level? I don't think so because the AFL only takes level input from the axle sensors, there's no feedback as such. Has anyone tried this?

Just successfully adjusted my AFL Bi-Xenons by turning the white allen head plastic screw on top of the unit. 1 full turn has raised them about 3 inches at approx 10 yards so should spread some more light on the road!
