Thumbs up I got the Courtenay filter to fit!

I wasn't going to bother trying the second one they sent, because the first one didn't fit and the second was the same size when I held them upto each other. I decided that I would though if I were going to send them back and ask for my money back. It was just wide enough to span the gap again but when I put the top on it didn't pop through. The first one was a bit warped from the post so maybe that's why it didn't want to fit.

So it's not a good fit but it did go in and stay in as far as I know. More importantly though, it did apear to make a big difference. I had been driving around before putting it in and after it fet noticably more agressive. The K&N is over 12 months old but I have cleaned it four or five times and I never remember feeling a difference like this when I put it in.

Might take a few to get one that fits but I would say that the Courtaney filter is alot better for performance than the K&N. If Courtaney are listening though, you need to make the outside mount larger! I'm not quite eating humber pie here, because it doesn't well and the first one wouldn't stay in the box but I'll give credit for the performance (though I'm going to check it's not because the filter has moved and air is bypassing it).

Why? Over-oiling is one of the biggest risks to the MAF sensor. They're designed to go 50k between cleans, that must be for a reason.....

That's what they say, but having seen just how much crud comes out after cleaning at "only" 20k I'd say no way.
Fuel consumption improved by about 5% after cleaning too (in fact economy dropping off was the reason I cleaned it).
